Dr. Houchen is currently the Francis and Malcolm Robinson Chair and Chief of Digestive Diseases & Nutrition, Department of Medicine at OUHSC where he also is Medical Director of Endoscopy and Associate Professor of Medicine. He has grants from the NIH and published more than 50 papers in medical journals. He received his M.D. degree at Temple University in 1990 and was a fellow in gastroenterology at Washington University (1993-1997) after a residency in internal medicine at the University of Maryland Hospital, in Baltimore. From 1999 to 2006 he was an assistant professor, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology, Washington University. He has been a consultant for Pfizer, Merck, Esai and other pharmaceutical companies. He currently serves on the editorial Boards of the Journal Gastroenterology and The World Journal of Gastroenterology. He also has served as an expert reviewer for several NIH/NCI grant review panels.
